The Hidden Meadow
Acquisition of this beautiful property was a grass-roots effort by many Sherborn residents and public and private Sherborn organizations. It is a recent example of how governmental bodies, land trusts and citizens can work together to preserve and protect meaningful open spaces. This forty-acre parcel is what remains of the Darcy Wilson Property located between Western Avenue and Bear Hill Road. Funds provided by the Town were matched by private donations. This land is now under the care and custody of the local Conservation Commission and a Conservation Restriction is held jointly by Upper Charles Conservation Land Trust and the Sherborn Rural Land Foundation.
The highlight of this property is a beautiful and spacious interior meadow. The property is accessed by close to 1 1/2 miles of trails; it is rimmed by stone walls, contains vernal pools, and is traversed by the Dirty Meadow Brook. It connects to other town owned land and is near the Barber Reservation. Primary access to the trail system is from the end of Bear Hill Road.
