Humphrey Fields

Because of a creative financing arrangement with the Humphrey family, the Foundation was able to purchase an eighty acre tract of land immediately adjacent to the Barber Rservation, payng installments over an eight year period. This purchase was a joint effort with Upper Charles Conservation Land Trust and the Town of Sherborn. The Sherborn Rural Land Foundation received substantial contributions from the Charisma Fund, which was established in memory of Lucy Sprague. Lucy grew up in Sherborn and her family made these contributions in honor of her memory. Upper Charles was responsible for making all of the interest payments on the outstanding loan and is a joint owner of this property. The Conservation Commission paid for substantially all of the survey work done to delineate the boundaries and, in return, received a permanent Conservation Restriction.
