Stongate Farm

Stongate Farm from Hollis Street, October 26, 2004

Consisting of two parcels, Stongate Farm has long been a fixture in Sherborn as an active farm stand operation. In the late 1980's the Wakeman family decided to sell the entire property. The Rural Land Foundation acquired both pieces and subsequently, sold off the farm stand and adjoining five and a half acres at 237 Washington Street (now Recine Farms), retaining ownership of the nearly seventeen acre field located at the corner of Western Avenue and Hollis Street. This field continues to be farmed today and is considered one of our most visually appealing properties.
